About KIP
Dr. Seyed Hasnain (VC, University of Hyderabad), Late Dr. Y S Rajasekhar Reddy (then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh), Dr. J Geeta Reddy (Minister, Industries) and Dr. B P Acharya (CMD, APIIC)
The KIP Launch
With well-built infrastructure and an industry-friendly environment, the state of Andhra Pradesh is one of the most sought-after destinations in India for Biotech and Life Science companies, and other R&D companies. In addition, Andhra Pradesh has several institutions and universities that engage in cutting edge research in diverse areas.

Keen to promote research and development in the state, especially for knowledge–based industries, the Government of AP has identified the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (APIIC) as a Nodal Agency, in order to collaborate with the University Of Hyderabad (UoH), for developing a world-class R&D cluster.

The University Of Hyderabad will also allocate (vide GO Ms No. 319 I&C Department dated 22-11-2007) 200 acres of land in a phased manner, to develop the cluster, titled Knowledge and Innovation Park (KIP), on the model of a University-based R&D park like the Western Science Park in Cambridge University. The objective of the park is to provide an enabling platform for an academia-industry interface, thus attracting global R&D majors in areas of high-technology.

The Knowledge and Innovation Park is being established in the campus of the University of Hyderabad through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed as a joint venture company between the University Of Hyderabad and the APIIC, titled University of Hyderabad Knowledge and Innovation Park Pvt Ltd. It has its registered office at the University of Hyderabad Campus, Gachibowli, Hyderabad - 500 046.

The KIP is development in its true sense - the kind of development that leads to opportunities for industries across the world, with their time here being partnered with efficiency, their research inputs with the desired outputs, and their experience with expertise. Clients can, then, reap the rewards of its unmatched location and immaculate services.

Since AP is a location with several R&D centres already established, there's scope for strategic alliances to be formed. A significant locational advantage that Hyderabad offers is that amenities here are available at competitive prices. Also, the talent here has been through exchange programs in their universities, and thus, has first-hand understanding of the global scenario of the industry. Hyderabad is also situated conveniently away from natural calamities of several kinds. The Park is indeed all set to take further the advancement of R&D in India.
